In the stoning of Stephen we see that even the loving Gospel of Jesus can be threatening to some, and when people feel threatened, they often aim to take down the cause of the threat. Don't we do that, too? How often, when we feel uncomfortable or threatened, do we respond by casting figurative stones, versions of the ones that killed Stephen? The Way Jesus calls us to is one of love and forgiveness - are we prepared to walk that Way?
