We are called by God to grow and share Christ's love.
Purpose: We are a gathering of faithful disciples in Christ who witness God’s message to others through learning, teaching, serving, and worship.
How do we do that?
Learning
Our Sunday School, which meets during worship every Sunday, is active and growing. The kids rejoin us in worship in time for communion and they enjoy a message from the pastor that is tailored for them.
Confirmation is a learning opportunity for youth ages 12-14, in which they learn about the Bible and about the Lutheran understanding of faith. They also learn what it means to serve God and neighbor.
We also have periodic Bible studies for adults, especially during Lent and Advent, but every gathering we have is an opportunity to learn from each other and from God's Word.
Teaching
One of the best ways to learn, of course, is to teach! Our members alternate teaching Sunday School for the kids, and we have a history of lay-led Bible studies and worship. We also know that each of us is called to live and to teach the most important truth we know: that of the good news of Jesus Christ!
Serving
We find LOTS of ways to serve. Here are some of our ministries, groups, and lay leaders within the St. Martin community:
Groups
In addition to the myriad ways to serve within St. Martin, we also find lots of ways to serve our community and world - donating food and money, volunteering our hearts and hands, cleaning up the road side, hosting fun events, hosting Scout Troop 110 and other community groups for meetings... the list is ongoing and ever changing.
Worship
Worship is the center of our lives together - it is our chance to gather as one Body of Christ, to give thanks to God, to celebrate what we have been given through Jesus Christ, and to experience the power of the Spirit in community. We worship every Sunday at 10:30, as well as occasionally during the week (during Lent and Advent). Our services use the familiar hymns from throughout the church's history as well as more contemporary music. We use the Lutheran Book of Worship and With One Voice. Holy Communion is offered on the first, third and fifth Sundays of each month.
